I want a new source.

Looking for quality build, better than average sound, in a single disc model.

No cartridges, no carousels. No combo DVD/CD. MP3 playback ok, but not required as I won't use it.

Headphone jack a must, till I get a decent amp. Volume control for headphones on front panel a bonus, not required if it is on the remote. Remote not required.

This will be used only with headphones, not speakers.

$700 max.

Any ideas?

Built in headphone amp with volume control? Don't bother.

Get a cheaper CDP, like a Cambridge Audio, then add Headroom Little for $200.
