Hi Guys,

Has anyone tried out the QP2R as a DAC only unit? I’m contemplating getting one because the sound of the QP1R blew me away, but I hate the UI of the unit. So I was considering getting the QP2R and use it as DAC only.

What is the sound character like? Is it similar to the unit as a stand-alone DAP? If not, what are the differences?
Are there other DAC/amps that have a similar signature to the QP2R?

It will be literally sending the same analogue signal out as it does when performing DAC duties, at a 2V (or thereabouts) line-level.

So are you saying that the sound character would be exactly the same if I play my iPhone tracks to my dt1770’s via the dac only?
Sorry I'm not quite sure what you mean - what would be driving the Beyers?

I guess I was confused on what your response meant. Let me reformulate:
If I connect the qp2r via usb to my iPhone, and use it as a DAC only, and connect my dt1770’s to the qp2r, do I get the same sound characteristics as when I play sound files directly from the qp2r with my dt1770’s?
