Is it just asthetics ? no improvement on sound, comfort or build?

I can attest to the fact that the PX200-II is a huge improvement on the PX200 in terms of sound. In fact, they sound significantly better than my old PX100, which were universally accepted to sound better than the old PX200s. The build quality is also improved with thicker plastics and a wider headband. Cabling is about as good as the old PX100 but now single-sided rather than dual-sided. Comfort-wise they're a step down in my opinion as the new structure is a bit heavier and clamps harder than the mk. I models.

if the PX200-II is better than the PX100. that means the PX100-II is the best.
Right?

If we were to assume that PX1* models always sound better than PX2* models than yes. But having heard the PX200-II I'm not so sure. Would have to try the PX100-II to know.

I find the PX100 II slightly heavier sounding than the first version. Directly comparing them, the second versions seems to be louder for a given volume, but this is more down to the slightly altered frequency response.

I like the PX100 II, but I think that the first version is probably a litlle more 'accurate' sounding in terms of bass balance.

The comparison for me is almost like comparing and HD600 with an HD650.

Given that I've heard people say that the newer PXs have the same drivers and that the only thing thats changes are the cups and overall design, I also am not sure the PX100-II would sound better than their higher numbered brethren. However, I have heard neither the original nor the second iteration, so I am not one to judge. However I do very much love the PX200-II, of which I just recently wrote a review of on the full size forum. I don't know whether to repost it here or have it moved. I have no issues with its comfort personally though, actually enjoy having them on moreso than the RX700s or FC700.

My noobish review here: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/sen...-rx700-468055/

Maybe Sennheiser finally made phones that corresponds to the description on their box, because on the first generation, it was kind of the opposite. On PX100's box, you could read "natural sound", and on PX200, "powerful bass", if I remember well.

I have just received a new pair of PX200-II to replace my beloved PX100 (1st gen.).
One word to describe it: disappointing!
Recessed highs, artificial sound ,thin bass (even I am not a bass fan) and forward mids.

As a HD650 owner,I still rank my PX100 as 9/10 for cost/quality ratio (a superb bargain at an affordable price) while PX200-II would be 6/10 with indulgence.

I will return them as fast as I can.

I was going to buy a pair of PX200-IIS - but in uk still expensive

I have currently PX100s

so instead a few weeks back bought HD228s - and performed the "mod" on them - and they sound absolutely superb, much better than my PX100s

only cost me £24

thinking of getting my first open cans, but I don't know which to go for. Between the HD 238s and the PX 100-IIs which one sounds better?
