Hi all,

Audiotechnica AD-900's here, with many years of daily use.
I recently fitted Brainwavez sheepskin pads (feel & sound great, but sweaty).

I noticed that the white paper/filter material surrounding the driver is pretty gross.
If it was porous, it now very much is not.

What's its purpose?
Should I bother replacing it, and if so, what should I replace it with?
Is there anything else I should do while im at it?

It's probably intended to tame the high end of the frequency response. That'd be my guess.

Controlling the movements and air chamber pressures from the motions of the diaphragms. It controls distortions from the deformation of the diaphragms upon specific frequencies ?
