What settings should I use for optical out on PS3? It gives me an option of 88Khz, 44, also 176.4 (off my memory)...I used to have an Auzen soundcard in my PC but that's not an option anymore.

Can anyone elaborate?

The problem is that you are forced to select both 44.1khz and 48khz. For CD playback there is an option for either A) 48khz or B) 44.1/88.2/176.4khz. If you choose option B, it will play CDs (real, physical CDs) at the lowest rate of those three that you have checked off in the audio output options. So, uncheck 88.2 and 176.4khz to play CDs at the native 44.1khz.

Unfortunately, everything you play on the hard drive, like WAV, MP3, AAC, etc. will get resampled to 48khz. I've been wanting them to fix this for years.

Hooked everything up today and don't notice any audible difference over my soundcard. Just a pain to have to sort thru wavs on PS3. I need to get MediaTomb to work with flacs...
