I am using Stax 009s with an IFI energizer, Ares II dac, CEC LT5 cd drive and Doge tub amp. I added a PS Audio Power Plant 10 that I purchased used. I was surprised it did not make that much of a difference. It does have a display that gives the incoming AC quality. My regular AC input was already fairly constant, clean and low distortion. I suppose I could have spent this money elsewhere and gotten a better gain.
Later I added an AC5 cable from wall to the power station and got a really nice upgrade. After that I added another AC5 cable between the power station and the amp. Big improvement, blacker background, cleaner, more detail, and a little more relaxed.
I was sceptical about power cables, but this changed my mind. I never would have tried these cables, but the seller was local and lent them to me. I happily paid for them after trying them out. I definitely will get cables for my dac and cd drive.
