Good day, everyone!
Us audiophiles like to obsess over things, it seems. One thing that is bothering me recently (after reading about Asgard and AKG) is the procedure of powering off and on my setup, and the possible damage it may inflict to my gear.
I have my amplifier connected to a decent surge protector. So the most natural and tempting way would be keeping headphones plugged in at all times, and just flip the switch on the surge protector so I don't have to reach for the switch at the back of the amp. However, some people recommend to plug in headphones after turning on the amp, and unplugging them before switching the amp off. Some people also recommend using the switch at the back of the amplifier rather than flipping the switch on the surge protector.
Which of these precautions are reasonable, and which aren't? Is it worth the hassle? And what way do you turn on and off your setup? Please share your thoughts and experiences.
