expressPCB for schematic drawings <-- very nice output and it's free.

LTSpice for serious simulations. TINA Spice when I feel lazy but need to check and tune some operating points.

DipTrace for pcb drawing. Faster than Eagle PCB IMO.

I use Cadsoft Eagle for schematic capture and layout. I paid for a non-profit license.

Version 5.7 was released January 12th
5.7 introduces a follow-me router. I haven't tried it. The old auto router was not very good.
Starting with 5.7 a license is valid on all platforms. This minor change is useful as don't need to switch operating systems to use Eagle.
There is a new "2.5" Gerber driver. The old one is 2.3 which can lead to rounding errors if the company making your boards converts to metric units.
Many other minor improvements.

LTSpice for simulation.

I recommend Eagle, simple and cheap
