If you use headphones or stereo speakers Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 will be much better than Prodigy HiFi. I have one modded with OPA2107 and the sound quality is superb.

I am planning on sending my signal to a dac, most probably the emu 0404 usb, does the Prodigy HD2 have an optical s/pdif output? and how much does it cost?

I would be very wary of any Audiotrak product, I have a Prodigy LT. The hardware is fine and sounds great, but the drivers and support for them are for all intents and purposes non-existent

Thanks for the link, I am aware of that site and have previously gotten drivers from there. My comments still stand, read some of the posts in the archive on the their forum, they simply do not deliver on what they touted as a major selling point, updated, stable drivers. Also, they have a global presence and the support sites to match, but only one site sees the rare update.

Thanks!
