Problems with the PICO and USB

You probably don't want to use the soundcard -> mini-to-mini -> pico route, as that bypasses the DAC. You want to isolate the problem first. Try using your exact setup at another house to determine whether it's a problem with your house's electricity or not.

Is the USB Cable unnecessarily long?

thats medium

u kno why its happening?

your USB connection has some fault.. due to which your DAC gets disconnected and FooBar suddenly stops.

i tried just now pulling out by Boa from USB and noticed the Soundcard didnt automatically changed to laptop.

i had to go to Preferences > Change the output and restart FooBar

so its the problem with USB connection most likely. this happened with my USB Hub also.. suddenly devices would stop working because Cable had soldering faults.

just replace it..it ll cost $10.

Also make sure your Pico is not shared with another device on that particular USB header. Each header shares power with 2 ports and the Pico should be alone for SQ purposes as well. I agree, try another cable.

I know that's what you were trying to do, I was just letting him know it's not an actual solution.

Or try a different USB port?

Is this a laptop or a desktop system?

Yes, something to do with your electricity. Some kind of voltage drop or swing that's wreaking havoc on the USB bus.

I would try the following:

1. Just for fun, try not using ASIO4ALL and Foobar, etc, just use the standard Vista USB audio drivers and see if that makes a difference.

2. Get a power conditioner like one from APC, or PS Audio, or Balanced Power Technologies.

3. Try locating the power for your computer on a different circuit.

2 things you have yet to answer.
1. Have you tried using a different USB cable?
2. Have you tried your Pico with a different computer?

If you still have a problem even though you tested these two steps above, come back and post.
