Hey guys, I recently built a CMOY using parts from JDS Labs. Unfortunately it doesn't work.. the red LED lights up but other than that I can't hear anything from my headphones. (If it's any help the battery is also heating up)

Howdy,

No offense and with all due respect that's quite a poor soldering job. You have shorts where they're not supposed to happen and on the other hand some of the leads are barely soldered.

Not sure what kind of advice I can give you but I would start again from scratch and have a friend who knows soldering give me a bit of guidance.

Good luck... That's a great CMoy and rewarding project. You will love it when you get it to work.

Haha yeah I totally agree.. It was my first soldering project and I didn't really have a solid idea what I was doing anyway. Thanks a lot for the info.

Do you know of any little projects that could make me better at soldering? Ones that don't cost much but can give me a good understanding of how things work.

Yes! They were very helpful and I tried to emulate everything you did but I guess practice is the only way you can improve once you've seen the technique.
