It depends on the brand.
European brands like Sennheiser and AKG are quite nicely priced up here. While Grado and Stax are insane priced.

Grado as an example if 50% more expensive than in the US, VAT not included. Stax about the same..

senns is about the ONLY thing I have ever seen that is cheaper here then in the US

Grado in australia is fairly overpriced as well. With quotes of $550 even on ebay for the Grado 325i.

The rest are fairly good, well basically australia needs to import those headphones... and we a low volume country anyway.

Might be some old volume stuff before the currency crash :p Porta Pros are like 120, 134 far out, even 100 on ebay. For something that can be had for like $16 USD exclude delivery)

I was refering to prices on higher end phones.
Sony SA5000 are near $1000 now.
Grado RS1 near $1200 and GS1000 $1500.
Its starting to turn into a very expensive hobby.
Will be cheaper to buy monitor speakers soon.

humm Denon AH-D7000 is only $1250 AUD on ebay. so fairly inexpensive. with their MSRP at $999 the new HD 800 is $2350 from one dealer. (yes thats about 50% increase).
