I got this from Headwize Announcements :

Meier Audio offers two versions for a mains voltage of 110V and 220V. Outside the European Community, the PreHead-1 retails for EUR 800/$775 US. Inside the EC, the retail price is EUR 925/$900 US.

Could somebody explain why the price in EC is higher? Does anybody know whether it is already available now since I could not find the details of Prehead-1 in Meier-Audio's website.

I suppose it's because of the hefty VAT, which is included in the price.

It is because of the VAT, like all of Meier's other products. Meier is selling the amp now but hasn't updated the web site yet because orders are still being filled. He says as much in another thread in this forum somewhere.
