I was wondering that in places where the NW-HD3 has come out that whether or not there was a big price drop in the price of the NW-HD1. i was thinking that if it did I might pick one up for a backup portable rig.

I think they've already had a price drop. It originally sold for 399 but now its only 349 and you get a free hard case if you buy it from sony.com. I read somewhere that the hd3 will be priced higher than the hd1 by exactly the amount it would cost to upgrade the hd1 to mp3.

Is there any place that sells HD1s that has already been updated to play mp3 natively?

The upgrade isn't out in the US yet. If you are in Europe then you can just buy a hd1 and go to the local sony center to upgrade it.

on www.sony.co.uk HD1 and HD3 are the same price at £250, and on www.amazon.co.uk the HD1 is £199 and the HD3 £219
