Does a preamp exist with an optical input? Built-in DAC if you will?

It would be nice if you could build an entire multi-source system around it. Phono input would be really nice, switch from Vinyl to optical.

there are DACs that have preamp ability, like the presonus central station and the benchmark dac-1.

You can get them, but a preamp with digital inputs is usually class D. Look at stuff from tact and aloia if you're interested though.
