I'm running a separate DAC into a "vintage" Sugden Headmaster headphone amp that has both pre out and tape out RCAs. I have a second tube amp that I want to interconnect into the Sugden in order to use the signal from the same DAC currently connected to the Sugden.
From my understanding the tape out doesn't really color the sound out of the DAC and is more of a signal pass through. In contrast, the pre out would have some of the Sugden "flavor" associated with what ultimately gets passed to the tube amp.
As it sits now, I'm using the tape out in order to get the cleanest signal from the DAC.
Amy I correct? Should I be using the pre out?
Thanks all!
