Hi,
I would like to know: Is it possible to do headphone-only listening with just a CD player and pre-amp (given it has a headphone output)?
Secondly, if the answer to the first question is yes, then does anyone have any experiences with pre-amps driving headphones?
The quality I'm looking for has to be at least on par with entry headphone amps like the OBH-11 or X-Can v2. So I'm looking for a price range where quality headphone outputs are included in the pre-amp. ie. > $500, > $1000 etc.
Also, what exactly is output inpedence? I see pre-amps with output indepence of 100 ohms (the Sennheiser HD580 has a nominal inpedence of 300 ohms).
