what i would like to do is implement a function on the ppa that would take in input from an electric guitar, and amplify the signal to a pair of headphones.

is this possible? if so how?

just preceed the headphone amp with either a guitar preamp (can be a single FET stage) or take the feed from your main guitar amp and use a dirct box for the hadphone amp feed
