Yes but way better than a hs Eng class. it's for a film production class, 3 minute long vid with nonsync sound that tells a story... a song fills it perfectly. so i'm starting with the song, then constructing what i want to be in the short piece next

I'm a little confused by what you mean by a "clear beginning, middle, and end." Most songs are made up of choruses and verses. I'm not sure how that could be split into 3 identifiable sections. And will your visuals be descriptive of the story in the song ... ie:like some music videos? Also, does it have to be 3 min. to the exact second?

Do you have 1 example of what you mean?

Here's a few that are close to 3 minutes.

I'm Eighteen by Alice Cooper: 3:01
Laugh Laugh by the Beau Brrummels: 3:05
You Really Got A Hold On Me by The Beatles: 3:02
To Love Somebody by the Bee Gees: 3:04
One Love by Bob Marley: 2:51
Cadillac Ranch by Bruce Springsteen: 3:03
What I Like About You by BTO: 3:02
Don't Be Cruel by Cheap Trick: 3:08
Breathe by Collective Soul: 3:05
I Hate My Generation by Cracker: 2:57
You Might Think I'm Crazy by the Cars: 3:05
Moonshadow by Cat Stevens: 2:50
Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash: 3:05
Love The One You're With by CSN&Y: 3:05
It Ain't Easy by David Bowie: 3:01
Lalena by Donovan: 2:59
Mirror In The Bathroom by ????: 3:09
Are You Lonesome Tonight by Elvis: 3:06
Big Love by Fleetwood Mac: 3:05

The times for these came off of my mp3 player so they might be off by a second or two. And I'm not sure if they all qualify as "powerful" or not.

Good List, but are you sure.

If yes, then add: Romantics: What I Like About You: 2:58 - Great Song!

EDIT: English Beat, Mirror in the Bathroom
