I think 14 AWG is enough for a CDP or headphone amp. There are many other properties that determine the quality of a power cord. I would choose a cord that is shielded and uses Teflon or materials like PE as insulation around the wire rather than PVC, which is a bad dielectric (although acceptable in the outer jacket). However, it is very difficult to know how good it is just by reading the specification.

How is signalcable's power cord? They do have a reasonable price.
