I am building a META42 with a toroidal transformer with 17 volts. I mistakenly got the 1000uf 10v capacitors for C2 and C3. What would happen if I used 4 of those to populate C2 and C3? I also have 2 1000uf 35 volt capacitors. Could I put the 10v in C2 and the 35v in C3? I am also using a 2200uf 35v cap in my power supply circuit.

If it's a single headed powersupply the caps will only see half the voltage, putting you on the right side of 10V. I assume it is since +/-17V is a bit much for most op-amps.

Since you already got the toroidal, you could use it to build a dual-voltage powersupply and not bother about the rail-splitter & virtual-ground on the META 42.
