You must be using Rockbox or a iPod that's more than 6 months old.

My old 20GB iPod holds less than 600 songs encoded with FLAC which will play 1.5 days, waay longer than the battery lasts.

My ipod has only got about 10 albums on it. I prefer not to have it bloated full of stuff i rarely listen to on the move.

I think it's not too shabby, but some people destroy me. I feel like Chuck Klosterman, when he says "I have more CDs that 99 percent of America, but fewer CDs than 40 percent of my friends; if an acquaintance has more CDs than me, I feel intimidated and emasculated."

Yep, I can relate

Yeah, I have a 3rd generation and the battery sucks after less than 200 charges. I bought a larger replacement with a claimed life of 15 hours, but I've tried everything short of a chisel to get those tabs loose to open that sucker. I give up. As someone else said, I have an IAudio XL and I get a solid 25 hours.
My headphone jack broke using a 90 degree RnB diamond mini and Cowen fixed it free in less than 2 weeks. I also have an H-120 for the optical out for about a year now and still get about 10-12 hours.
