It's pretty sad when I can get more participation by saying "Look at my shiny new amp!" than by posting a detailed review on said amp.

P.S. I always feel bad about what you have just describe. It reminds me of the threads dedicated to the aniversary of members when the others on the same daily list are completely ignored. Not very kind for the less popular ones...O.K. it's life but it's so much in their face...

But there is the opposite when others come to your defense. Inevitably there is a difference of opinions, but you will find that there are many here that share in your opinion and point of view.

Not saying that opposite opinions don't matter, as I like an informed opposite view to help keep you honest. Blind skeptical flames serve no purpose other than showing the ignorance of the poster.

I for one will make my best effort to read and post a thank you for as many reviews as I can find.

Yes, it does suck to spend alot of time carefully type out a review only to have it ignored.

Besides the reasons that have been already mentioned, maybe I can point out something else that might affect the non-reviews-trend a little bit as well.

Sometimes it seems that unless you have at 500+ or 1000+ posts, some people just won't take you too seriously. And a few people talk as if a they were standing on a higher level than your average head.fi member.
Don't get me wrong, it's not as bad as it sounds said it but I hope you get my general idea.

Ok, it does sound very negative, I must admit

But that's not the case as after all this is a great place but some newcomers (I don't particulary like the word "noob"
smily_headphones1.gif
) are simply scared away by some incomprehensible hostility. I mean, seriously, personal critisism has nothing to do in a thread, why not just ignore it or pm?

Nevertheless, the urge for better sound quality is what always prevails in the end and that's what keeps head-fi together.

It still sounds too negative...

I hope this is not the case. I have met some extremely knowledgeable people at meets that have no posts at all. I wish at times they would just jump into the fray and say what is on their mind.

BTW I have a document of terms and expressions that Servinginecuador and I collaborated on. We took definitions from a number of sources and where necessary tweaked them for headphones. If anyone would like it please PM me as it is too large to attach.

Hi John_jcb,

Too bad that it can't be published on Head-Fi as it is. Could have been useful to so many of us.

You know, over the summer when I actually have time to myself I'll write reviews of most if not all of my gear. It's actually fun if you have the time to enjoy it, otherwise it just becomes another burden.

Finishing up a minor review/impressions on XM Satellite Radio and the Delphi Roady. But now where to post it...Sources or Portable Audio...

But seriously, it is definately intimidating to do a full review, especially for us less experienced folk.

I'd like to be a good reviewer, its just that a lot of times, the way I percieve things to sound, is different than how other people do. I wouldn't want to write a whole review and make someone buy the component and then decide that it sounded quite different than how i had described it and get all mad and stuff...ok now im just rambling...

Sometimes, its just hard to describe the sound correctly.

Dan

Dan,

Remember when I told you I was glad that you said how you really feel about the DT880? Why not post your impressions? You can describe what you hear, the way you hear it. It does'nt really matter if you like it or not. I think dissenting opinions are absolutely mandatory. I love it when somebody says that they hate the Blockhead or some other gear I really like. At least it shows that we don't all listen with the same ears.

Dan

Great Job Tommyatkins! I hope some of the other guys follow your lead and get to posting impressions and reviews. Tommy's format was great and his impressions are very complete, even discussing programming and compatability. I added it to the feature reviews section where it belongs.

I will post a comparative brief review of the Two total airhead ( std. VS burr brown ) which i think can result rather useful too some people - and also can take some hates on me from the headroom staff
smily_headphones1.gif

I was keeping myself from because of the rather cold behavior towards my first review ..but no problem , I'll get my ass kicked another time
