Really? You are fortunate, my friend. I've never been able to trust a hard drive more than 3 years...
This last one was an ssd, Patriot brand. Didn't make it the full 3 years. I could put another drive into it, but the machine is 12 years old. Time for a new laptop.
The first computer I bought (eg could afford), some 30-ish years ago, had a Teac hard drive, 100 MB (megabytes, lol). It lasted almost exactly one year. Those were the days of DOS 5. I used that machine for about a decade also, and remember putting a few drives in it. I still have the mobo, it was so expensive, I couldn't throw it out.
