Perhaps more than any other player, Maurice "Rocket" Richard transcended the game in which he was a bona fide superstar. All of this was built on his otherworldly talent as a fire-breathing, left-shooting right wing who often is described as hockey's most dangerous player of all time, from the opponent's blue line in. Richard was the first NHL player to score 50 goals in 50 games. In this photograph you can see the fire and determination in his eyes. When the Canadiens needed a clutch goal, Richard wouldn't be denied.
