As far as the SQ goes, we know that the Ipod isn't the solution. However, assuming it is in-home use only, what if one does this:

Ipod (wav, loseless) -> Usb/ Optical -> DAC -> Amp -> Can

Is this even a possibility??? Just a thought.

Yeah there is a company getting a digital signal out of the ipod, but they charge $2000 USD. That's some pricey turnip blood.

If you only need up to 80 GB (or 120GB with a replacement HD) then a 5.5G imod is the way to go. Going cheap now from ALO:

Otherwise, just get a good line out dock for your ipod.
