The vent is so the speaker can reflex. Dynamic speakers are like sub woofer speakers. they need air to breath and shine.

Well not exactly ..... The vent, or port on a subwoofer is precisely tuned to a certain frequency, where the frequency response of the subwoofer is as flat as possible and sounds right. It is not just to vent air in general, but critical to proper tuning, and that is what I am trying to find out about IEMS ..... If that port is just to release air pressure, or if it is tuned.
