med = HD580

I think the Portaphile plays very well with Senns, esp. the HD580. Adds some much needed air and open soundstage, as well as clearing up the mids.

I have the DT880 and K701s. Works well too, but I just like the HD580/Portaphile synergy better. Have Fun!

I have a portaphile V2, and the 580's, sounds great. So you're V2^2 should sound even better. I've listened to lots of different types of music on this combination, and everything has sounded great. I can't complain about the sound. Be sure to buy them from a good dealer though...not like Digitally unique...

alot of people say the portaphile v2 goes very well with AKG K501's, which are very good for jazz.

AKG-K501 (don't yet have K701), Senn HD600, Senn PXC300, Grado HF-1, Sony SA5000, Beyer DT770 (beautifully solves the problems of soundstage center void and spectrum midrange suckout) -- and many more.
