I have modded the wired travel remote to get a line out signal, but wondering what would be the best way to make it compact for use with a portable amp.
The mod i did is in the DIY forum:

For a larger amp the cleanest thing i can think of is to use a 8 pin mini din connector and hide the travel remote on the inside of the chassis (route the audio to the AMP internally). Cut the travel remotes cable in two. Put a male 8 pin mini din connector on the side with a dock, then put a female 8 pin on the amps chassis with the remote on the inside.
The remote's PCB isn't very large, but still can't think of a way to make it as compact as a IPOD LOD to 3.5mm.
