I'd like a portable boombox or speakers to hook up to my DAP. I know that I'll be hard pressed to find something with truly good SQ, but what would be some of my best choices here?
I want it for when I'm at the lake or beach with some friends. I want it to have enough volume to be useful too. I read about some that have decent SQ until you crank them up.

I use a Sony at work where I crank it near full volume all day using a 2G shuffle as source. It sounds decent for around $100. I bought mine at Best Buy so I could buy a 2 year replacement warranty.

For more money the JVC kaboom is often recommended although I haven't heard one in years. The top model goes for around $225.

which DAP do you have?

Ooops, probably should have mentioned this. I will be using a Cowon D2 or a Sandisk Clip, depending which one I'll have with me.

Which DAP you'll be using doesn't matter unless you're looking for a model which allows for docking which will mainly be for iPods or maybe a Zune.

Many have an audio line in via 1/8". All you need is a mini-mini cable.

Now if you had an iPod....
