Portable MP3 Player , what would you recommend ?

I mostly agree with Murugesh. The only thing I don't agree with is the joystick being listed as a negative. In my experience it's much easier to change songs/volume with my X5L in my pocket because of the joystick. Out of pocket, the ipod wheel just doesn't feel right to me. I don't know what it is about it, but I actually find it to be more... well, annoying than a joystick. I'd rather move my thumb slightly like on the X5L than move it in large circles. Plus my thumb gives me a little pain spinning it around to navigate an ipod. This is all preference I guess, try both and see what you like.

The Zune is also pretty nice, I've counted at least 5 different ones in school so far. It seems the general consensus among students, other than the stubborn iPod fanboys, is that it is a superior device. I've also heard a few iPod owners say they wished they bought a Zune since "it's so much cooler". I've not actually used one yet but I have seen all 3 colors up close. It seems to me, contrary to many other opinions, that the zune has a good opportunity to explode in popularity.

I love the iPod.

I recommend the iPod.

A lot of people recommend other DAP's based on their merits. I have no problems with any of these folks.

But there are also a lot of people who recommend other DAP's simply because they are not iPods. I have a problem with these folks.

I just thought this should be mentioned. Don't hate the iPod simply because it is successful. It also happens to be a great DAP.

Good luck in your quest.

I think this is because iPods are already taken into mind and are always recommended anyways.

I got it in white. The zen is great but if you wish to have flac or ogg support i sugest you go for the cowon players otherwise the creatives are the best choice. I hear numerious people happy with the ZVM. It gets great reviews so i bought it and i also recomment it.

Looks nice in white. Kinda throws you for a curveball, your expecting it to be an iPod. The Cowons have more than just FLAC support going for them. But they also have UMS support and filetree etc.

what is ums and filetree. Any way i thought it would look like an ipod it sorta does. I also have a broken 4g ipod in my possetion and it looks sort of the same but the zen looks dead sexy in white. In best buy they sell then in black which means the front plate is black and the black is white it looks terrible but w/e.

The white one is awsome go get the white one. I love it.
