Hi Everyone, would like recommendations if it's not too much trouble, my high end audio audio experience is very limited. I went from standard iPod phones to IE7's with custom sleeves which are excellent.

Now I want some headphones, not really sure what I should be looking for in a pair of portable headphones, so guide me please.

Many thanks, and happy listening.

What's not good and good about the IE7s? Why do you want an upgrade? Would you be interested in selling them and getting a custom IEM?

Well if they are great, then why look for anything else portable? I'd rather set up a desktop setup. Check out the HD600 and the EF2 if you use a computer as a source. Or look into with a completely different signature than your owned IE7s

Save making a new thread, would the HD600's punish poorer quality recordings badly? Because I do have some poorer quality recordings in my library. Also, where can I get that amp from bearing in mind I'm in the UK?

I vote for the westone 3's

Gone from Senns MX 500 to Koss Plugs to Ety ER6i to Shure E2's to UE Superfi 5's to Westone UM2's to my Westone 3's, best foe comfort and quality audio playback.

Also have Audio Techica headphones Senns HD 25's Ultrasone 650 HFI Trackmasters

I had HD600's borrowed for over a month and I'd say they are pretty forgiving (if by "poorer quality" you mean "too little cash spent on a good studio" and not low bitrate). As for the amp - Novo handled them really well.

With 256kbps and up you should be satisfied, lossless is recommended though.

At your price point (~$500 USD), I would be shopping for customs.
