I primary listen to a lot of rock, alternative, some techno and soft rock. can someone recommend me a good headphone in this price range? I don't really want lots of bass, What really matters to me is getting a very clear midrange

Heya,

When you say portable, what are you looking for exactly? Ie, small size, on-ear, folds up, detachable cable, etc? Or are you ok with a full size headphone that does not fold up but is tank-like built? I ask because portable is a relative term for some folk here. Myself for example, I consider every headphone portable that is closed back and can run without a desktop level power amplifier. As in, if you can carry it, it's portable. Others would say it has to be small, efficient and folds or something to be portable, or just straight up IEM's.

Very best,

Phiaton MS 400 is a good option. They are on sale on newegg right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826875014&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=4003003&SID=eozjbgbyndiv

Ultrasone HFI 580. On sale at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00101UHS8/

Grados: Any of the SR series - they are open and leak quite a bit of sound, so keep that in mind.

I prefer full sized (though not that really big), I don't care if they fold, I just really want to get a good sound quality on the Go without disturbing others (yeah i need closed headphone)
