Portable for Audeze LCD-2

If you want raw power with a battery for your LCD-2, then the ifi micro idsd line will do (best available prices right now, new or used):

(original micro idsd and seller has a recent negative feedback, so just throw an offer of at least $120)

If you want a small transportable amp without battery, then this ifi zen can signature MZ99 will provide almost 2W on the 4.4mm balanced output to your LCD-2 and the Meze Classics EQ will probably work very well with the LCD-2:

Anymore thoughts on this? I haven’t bought anything and am still considering multiple options. I’d prefer to get bang for the bucks; however, I’m not opposed to anything. So far, I’m looking at a Mojo2, M15, Gryphon, for simple portable solutions.
+1 for the IDSD gryphon, very nice to have Bluetooth and quality USB decoding in the same package (in my experience BT amps tend to not have great USB performance)

BTW, I don’t think I will use bluetooth. So, anything I get will will be directly connected from my iPhone, into the amp. Also, I’ve never been much of an eq person. If an ifi component gets bought, by me, I’ll probably never use xBass or anything similar.

This gets me back to the ability to drive the LCD-2F’s properly and provide a good and open soundstage as well as being neutral.

Would still rec the Gryphon, Great sound/power in a nice looking chassis, on the note of Xbass/Xspace I feel like they are pretty useful for overly harsh/bass anemic cans (which the LCD-2 is not) but its still nice to have the option

Yup, XBass is a nice extra and most folks find it nicely implemented. As for LCD-2s, I agree, these specific cans surely don't need that magic button engaged :)

Tell me the differences between the ifi portables. I really am having a hard time understanding this.

Also, I know you will biased; however, where does Gryphon compare favorably to a Mojo2. That’s the only portable I’ve heard with my headphones.

We have many products and I think that they're explained quite well at our site. Just to clarify, what would you like to know?

With portable amp/dacs, I’ve only heard the Mojo2 with my LCD-2F’s. I could go get one of those; however, I hear people speaking nicely about the Gryphon. How would you compare the two?

Plus, the Gryphon is less expensive. Again, I will not use the “X” features…

As iFi audio's representative I can't comment how our products directly compare to other companies' competitive products, but I'm sure that in the xDSD Gryphon or Mojo 2 threads you'll find lots of info about that. Hope this helps, thanks!

Just my two cents. With LCD3, I prefer M15 over Hugo 2. M15, although with less details, gives more bass thump that plays really well with the LCD series. It gives music more life in my opinion. I briefly heard the Mojo 2 at Canjam. It has similar signature as Hugo 2, with slightly less detail and slightly more warmth.

Here is quite a nice sonic description of Mojo 2. The bass comments match the impression to got upon brief listening:

comparison of Gryphon vs Mojo 2:

Based on what’s described there, I feel gryphon would be a better match.

The Gryphon sure appears to be more favored to the Mojo2.
