I'm trying to find a good portable cd player with am/fm and line out(if such a beast exists). If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be most thankful.

Are you looking for a current model that you can find new? Most of the newer players seem to have forsaken a line out but I'm sure there are several models out there that fit your criteria. If you don't mind going the used route via eBay, I'd like to bring to your attention an underrated player. The Sony D-FJ401. It's a relatively recent model. Has AM/FM/TV tuner as well as a dedicated line out. It has G-Protection anti-shock which is a minus for sound quality but a big plus for practical portable use. The sound quality is pretty good, the battery life is excellent from 2 AA's, and it's quite compact for a player with a built-in tuner.
