Anyone know of any portable CD players with toslink/coax (though I'm sure coax is either rare or non-existent in portables) outs? I've had a hell of a time tracking any info down, and I know there were multiple models like this out only a few years ago.

If the digital out is tough to come by, what are some of the consensus picks for the top of the heap where portables are concerned? I figure I'd better buy something now before good stuff is impossible to find.

I would also suggest having a look at the following thread:-

This was a review that was put together a few years ago. It covers pretty much any PCDP ever manufactured by Sony, except maybe a couple of the more recent ones. This is very comprehensive review and worth scouring through.

... is probably the best ever produced. It still commands a pretty good price in the market. Great analog section as well. D-A is handled by 2 DACs (unusual in a portable). And it has coax digital out. I just posted my nearly mint on on Ebay because I haven't used it in 7 or 8 years.

Exactly my thoughts some time ago - I bought D-NE10 a year or so ago.
