sometime in the foreseeable future I will be buying a portable amp to go along with my ipod/hd595 (could be upgraded). I am looking to spend around $60-$100. What I want to know is what would be the best amp for me; I listen to rock, alternative, some rap and some blues. I would like an amp that can provide a big soundstage if possible. Also I would like something that would be able to power a higher impedance phone because I might upgrade my cans after the amp purchase.

I dont use 595 as portable no but my only source is an Ipod. I would like an amp whihc will improve the 595 but could laso run a future headphone upgrade which was higher impedance.

Either the Supermicro IV or the Supermini IV will do fine. Another would be the XM4 specially if you swap the 2134 for an 8620. Good luck.

I have not heard the new Go-Vibe 6 with the 8620/8610 but based on the older 5 version it should merit a test.

I am using the Zero Audiocraft amp with the OPA2228 in it with my Senns HD595s (50 Ohms).

This amp is extremely well built with good components and has no hiss at any volume.

The only downside is it does not have a dc jack, but the battery life is supposed to be very good.

It is sold on Ebay for £50 + shipping.

Search the forum as reviews have been written on this amp.

An alternative is the Practical Devices XM4 which you could bid for.

Both amps allow Op amp rolling.
