Just received the Shure SE 535's, but when I plugged them straight into my iPod I was a little disappointed. I don't have a portable AMP/DAC, but curious to hear what these could sound like I plugged them into the Schiit Valhalla and Bifrost Uber. Very happy with the result! Detail was better across the board, and instrument separation and soundstage both improved, as well.
So the question is - which portable amplifier/DAC will give me similar or better performance? Willing to spend up to $400, maybe a little more. I do realize that adding ANY DAC will give noticeable improvement, but I want to avoid purchasing a portable amplifier/DAC and still feeling like the 535's sound better out of the Valhalla/Bifrost.
