I currently own the ATH-W1000 and was wondering about suggestions on what amp/DAC would make them sound fuller given they are low impedance. In particular, it would be nice to get more full bass out of them. My source is merely a laptop for now; that may improve later since I need to upgrade computer soon anyway (and why not get a nice soundcard while I'm at it?).

My budget is about $300 (but cheaper would be nice) and what I've considered so far, with no actual sonic impressions yet:

Portaphile V2^2
Meier-Audio Porta Corda MkIII/MkIII-USB
Gilmore Lite
SuperMacro 3 Lite

The much revered SR71 is outside my budget, but if it's really leagues above the aforementioned, I might hold off and save up for it.

Your impressions would be helpful.

Regards,
nsu

While quite a bit under your budget cap, I would also recommend the Go-Vibe v.3 (http://members.shaw.ca/storage_2/headsave/). I use mine with either a computer soundcard or with the line-out from my iRiver H10 dock, and the sound with Sennheiser HD 595s is really good.

You also have the option of changing op-amps in the Go-Vibe if you want to experiment in the future.
