Hey Guys! I'm looking for a portable amp for my Ipod 5G. The first choice would be a Simpl A1 (I listened to one, and I found it rocks!)... Are there any alternatives recommended (in the same price-range)? What about an Headroom Airhead?

Thanx!

a good place to start is probably the sticky at the top of the amp's forum titled "compilation of portable amps."
link

From the list you should be able to figure out which amps fall into your price range and you can then search for impressions of those amps.

Thanks ichiro! I did that, and I am now curious, if a more experienced member than I has listened to an A1 and had the opportunity to compare it with other equally priced portable amps... Thanks a lot guys!

Besides the Hornet, AE-1, SR-71, Micro Amp (desktop module), etc which are over $300 + S&H you can look into the PAV2. New it sells for $60 with a charger and deliver included. It sounds great and if it is not for you (complexity, weight, sound, etc) you can always sell it and just be out a few bucks.

I doubt those would need amplifiers. Pretty low impendace, and their hard to drive with any old dap. You'll only notice a very minute amount of difference in sound at most. Better just save up for better headphones.
