I have a pair of Grados that I connect to a CMoy pocket amplifier and iPod.
 
What are ideal volume settings for the amp and iPod?

Whatever your comfortable listening to....

I generally have my DAP set to 70-80% volume and then adjust to personal preference using my E7.

Consider getting a LOD for your iPOD. Another plus for that setup is that you only have one volume to worry about

As above, becuase your're using an ipod you can benefit from picking up a LOD bypassing your ipods internal amp. Look into purchasing Fiio L9. they don't cost much. Not only will you have one volume control you'll increase SQ too.
