My friend played a couple of their songs for me the other day, and I must say, this band has an incredible amount of talent from what little I heard. Anyone have any recommendations for albums of theirs to purchase?

I'd go way back, if you're like me and get into pink floyd, hawkwind, space rock type stuff, their earlier albums are the best ones. "the sky moves sideways" "up the downstair" "staircase infinities" or better yet if you want a sample of beginning to present check out the boxset released last year "stars die" it is a comp of stuff from 1991-1997.

Hey, this is one of my all-time favorite bands!!

Their latest cd, In Absentia, is their heavier release to date, and since you like Opeth, as I can infer from your other post, this seems to be the way to go for starters.

yeah, just work backwards. maybe leave Metanoia for later. and I definately recommend the Stars Die box. lots of B-sides and previous unreleased material, so it won't go obsolete once you dig into the earlier (pre-Stupid Dream) CDs.
