I hooked my amp up today, and while the sound quality does sound better overall, I am now getting a lot of pops and crackles in my music. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

AV-710 --> 0HA-RHP --> A900s.

If you take the amp out of the chain (leaving everything, including volume in windows, the same), can you hear the same pops/cracks?

No. Its only when I'm running the sound through the amp.

Edit. Never mind, after a few minutes the crackling showed up without the amp.

It almost sounds like they got blown out, but I've only had them for a week, and they have never been at high volumes.

Something wrong with phones or audiocard if crackling in both cases.
It could have been the volume control in windows, I suggest keeping it at max.

Edit: do you have possible access to any other sources to try all of this with? Like amp/no amp out of a dvd player? Does not have to be yours, any friend's.

My little dot micro does that when its close to a wireless router. Some kind of high frequency RFI. It clicks and buzzes randomly. Its also very sensitive to ESD. If I wear a polar fleece sweatshirt it makes all kinds of noises as I walk around.

Try the following, go to Start => Control Panel => Quicktime => Audio Tab and then set the Rate to 44.1 khz and the Size to 16 bit. Close the applications and re-boot. Then test to see if the problem is solved, if not try checking Safe Mode and repeat.

Please post the results. Thanks.
