I "borrowed" a friends copy of the Police box set and was surprised at what I'm perceiving to be a lot of digital artifacting -- really harsh highs, empty sounding, consonant syllabance. Does anyone else have this and can comment? I guess it was remastered around 93, but somehow I was expecting more.

its the same old thing as yesterday

I have the boxset as well...to me it sounds fine. Which discs have you listened to? I wonder if what your ears are perceiving what may be the lack of great recording equipment...well, at least on the first disc (i do recall they upgraded from 16 track to 24 at one point, they mentioned this in the booklet). The rest sound great to my ears. Try "walking on the moon."

ps. what cans/amp did you use to listen to the boxset?

Mine sounds great too, recognizing the fact that they recorded on some pretty substandard equipment before they made it big. Strange coincidence -- I was just listening to the box set about 20 minutes ago.
