I heard mixed things about a line-out for the 5G iPod; some say it's good, but others claim the difference is very minimal.

I don't remember any posts saying it was minimal. At least not when compared to other improvements of audio gear.

Well, one guy/gal told me that the headphone jack quality of the 5G iPod is good enough...

In my portable rig, the difference is huge. Assuming you are using an amp, I can't see doing it any other way.

it is if you have no amp. and you shouldn't use the line out without an amp. but if you get a turbodock (better than a pocketdock imho) line out, you're plugging it into an amp (hopefully) so that right there is going to be better than a headphone out!

Well, is a PA2V2 as good? I know the people who make Turbodocks closed up shop...

Anyway, how much does it cost, and do I only buy the TurboDock II? Do I need to buy one of those cable as well? What exactly IS the turbodock?? Is it only that cable??

Wow...anyway, thanks for ur replies.

Well, turbo dock is a dock with a line connected to it. And maybe you should try Sendstation Pocket Dock, it is just a mini dock with a lineout jack, then you also need wire to connect the iPod to the amps

I have the Sendstation line-out for my 5G that I use at work and in the car. The difference between the headphone jack and the line-out is huge to my ears.
