Hi all, cheers*
I'm new to hi-fi headphones. As of now my pocket doesn't allow any amp to be nearwhere my room.I was thinking of plugging HD-580 into the line-out of my logitech z-2200 speakers controller instead of plugging it straight into the sound card line out. Will the line-out from the controller act in any way as an amp to boost the signal for the monster craving 300 ohm? I have this ludicous idea that pc speakers system line-out port has an amp built in. If plugging in either way yields same result then I will have to get the HD-590 with 120ohm. I'm ready to be enlightened.

I'd maybe consider the HD 555s instead of the 590s.

I feel bad for any headphone plugged into those speakers, but whatever works til you can afford an amp right?

BTW have you heard the 580s, 590s, or other phones? Or you just basing your purchase on price?

Agreed. Especially if you're running unamped or are using a low-power amp (like a CMOY). Also, the control pod thingy will cause it to sound much worse than plugging it straight into your computer will.
