Hi, I'm looking for a portable headphone that sounds good unamped (sound quality is my main concern; isolation is not necessary). My budget is around $200. I've been reading lotta old posts, and finally down to these two; AH-D1001 & HD25-1. Both of these headphones received many positive feedbacks. Thus, I'm not sure which one to choose. It will be good to know which one is better for variety of music (Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, U2, Yngwie Malmsteem, Steve Vai, Al Di Meola, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, & some classical). I've have and use both. Either would be a good choice.

The HD25-1 have better isolation. They have a more aggressive punchy sound signature. They also clamp a bit for a tighter fit.

The Denon 1001 is more laid back.

I tend to use the 1001 more since it's difficult to hear the phone wearing the HD25. If you go with the HD25 I would suggest replacing the cable.
