Hello, that's why you are using the great secure mode of EAC, I really recommend to leave it like that, if it finds the cd a bit scratched or with dust it will make the speed process slow for make a perfect rip, and also if it can't read some sectors, it will read it some times, and get a perfect rip of that sectors. What you can do is clean your cds before ripping, and also I rip my cds using Chris Myden guide here:

Check what adapter and id your Plextor drive has, and download the profile, that will give you the optimal settings for your drive.

Also there's a recommendation of the best encoders to use, etc.
