I mainly listen to:

House/Trance/Electronica
Hip Hop
Jazz
Vocals

Looking for soundstage but some intimacy, decent bass (don't need anything too bass heavy), great mids.

After reading reviews on here, I've narrowed my list to the following:

Ortofon e-Q5
HiFiman RE262/RE272
Vsonic GR07 (mkii)

I am willing to get a portable amp to run through my laptop's USB (if you think that's sufficient to drive some of these). Was looking at the FiiO E10. These IEMs will be for mainly listening at my desk at work, so will be playing through my laptop.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

What sort of soundstage are you looking for? Width, height, depth....

Because GR07 has decent width and pairs well with Fiio E10, however it's not what I'd exactly call intimate in the mids and has very little depth and imaging skills.

Yamaha EPH-100 may be an option to consider or Sony EX600

Pretty much sounds like the HiFiMANs, from what I've read. I have the E10s, and they're not too good for sensitive IEMs. The socket is noisy as well, so pretty bad for moving on the go. If you get the RE262/272, they need more power than the average IEM. The others are fine with portable players. How about the E11/E17? The E17s have nice EQ features, work as a portable amp with a LOD, and has an USB DAC as well.
