I bought a budget external hard drive, so I thought checking the drive thoroughly might be smart.

One other question:
I bought a bare external hard drive case and it says it can support a 400 GB hard drive under Windows, but only a 250 GB hard drive under Mac OS X. Any idea why? (is it the chipset used?)

I googled for that format type and I think Mac OS Extended is what I want (no journaling because this will be a drive specifically to house video files for iMovie; i.e. operating system will remain on internal hard drive).

Is there a way to move my dad's Videos folder alone to this drive, and do it in such a way that Mac OS X sees it properly when working with other programs such as iDvD and Front Row?
