Please recommend an external hard drive (or enclosure) for Intel iMac

I don't see a problem with it, but I frankly don't see how it will help. But you're free to try.

I googled for that format type and I think Mac OS Extended is what I want (no journaling because this will be a drive specifically to house video files for iMovie; i.e. operating system will remain on internal hard drive).

Is there a way to move my dad's Videos folder alone to this drive, and do it in such a way that Mac OS X sees it properly when working with other programs such as iDvD and Front Row?
